During the three days of Sukkot, October 17-15, the Negev Museum complex in Be’er Sheva invites families and children aged 12-9 to engaging and enriching activities inspired by the international exhibition “The Event of a Thread: Global Narratives in Textiles” with the museum’s guidance staff. Every day at 10:30 and 12:30 there will be open guided tours for the audience (at no extra charge) during which the audience will be able to hear about the story of the fabric in different cultures, and to know the different meanings and roles it serves in different peoples and countries, through the items presented in the exhibition. On Wednesday another tour at 4 p.m.
Every day at 11:30 a fun workshop will begin, and participants will be able to create an original piece of their choice inspired by the exhibition such as creating a collage of fabrics, making a manual loom and weaving it in twos and making useful or decorative items from colorful fabrics. At the end of the workshop they will take the artwork home as a souvenir and as a decoration for their room.
A special poetry evening led by Dr. Vered Tohar that will give an overview of the relationship between text and textiles
Featuring: Thelma Dinstein – poet and artist, Amit Mautner – poet and actor, Hadar Lotan – poet and artist, Adi Wolfson – a poet and a known activist and an expert on sustainability, Yoav Itamar – poet, playwright and editor
On the occasion of the end of the exhibition we will gather and hear stories and memories from the audience.Bring photos, documents and whatever you want to share with the audience
6 PM- A guided tour of the exhibition “Once Upon a Time in Be’er Sheva”
7 PM – Dr. Zeev Zivan will guid a tour to the city’s prominent sites from the Ottoman and British periods until it becomes the commercial center of the Hebrew city.

An evening of singing with Oded Shoham and a team of musicians and reading excerpts led by Dr. Ze’ev Zivan, in cooperation with the ‘Katedra’- Be’er Sheva and Goodman – Acting School in the Negev.

Mayor Rubik Danilovich in a conversation with Dr. Ze’ev Zivan, memories of the mayor’s childhood in Be’er Sheva in the 1970s and a discussion of his current vision for Be’er Sheva, about the achievements along with the challenges, difficulties and future milestones.

A seminar on “How to Build a City – Be’er Sheva in the 50s and 60s”, with Dr. Ze’ev Zivan and Prof. Esther Meir. The seminar which will last about two and a half hours and will take place in the lecture room of the museum.
This is the second gathering as part of a series of meetings for the exhibition Once upon a time in Be’er Sheva.
